Originally introduced as a student instrument in 1964, the Fender Mustang has long been a favourite of alternative musicians with its distinctive looks, unique tone and great playability. With the popularity of these short scale guitars at an all time high with the new Fender Mustang and Duo Sonic range, a Japanese Fender Mustang offers this classic instrument in a true vintage spec. This 2004 - 2005 Fender Japan MG73 Competition Stripe Mustang in Lake Placid Blue combines expert Japanese craftsmanship with this iconic early 70's design.
Featuring a Poplar body with Maple neck and Rosewood fingerboard, this Mustang is finished in a vintage correct Lake Placid Blue with matching headstock, with a rarer cream competition stripe in place of the more common light blue. As with all vintage spec Mustangs, this instrument has a shorter 24" scale length making it effortlessly playable, paired with a 60's 'C' neck profile and 7.25" radius for a true vintage feel. The original black bottom pickups offer a classic Mustang single coil sound, mixing a bright bridge pickup with a rounder, warmer neck pickup, along with the endless tonal possibilities of the phase switching pickup selectors that makes the sound of Fender Mustangs so unique. Other features include a vintage style pearloid pick guard, white button Kluson style tuners, and a traditional Mustang style tremolo.
