From being the guitar to have as a student player in 1964 to the go to instrument for 90's alternative music the Fender Mustang has become a players favourite for its distinctive 60's looks, unique tone and great playability. The introduction of Fenders modern Mustang and Duo Sonic range has made these Japanese Fender Mustang guitars a great option for anyone looking for a true vintage spec Mustang with all the charm of a 60's model. This 2007 - 2008 Fender Japan MG69 Mustang in Competition Orange combines expert Japanese craftsmanship with this iconic early 70's design.
Featuring a Poplar body with Maple neck and Rosewood fingerboard, this Mustang is finished in the ultra cool Competition Orange with red stripe, one of the rarest Mustang finishes in the 60's. As with all vintage spec Mustangs, this instrument features a shorter 24" scale length making it comfortable and playable for any kind of style, and combines a late 60's 'C' neck profile and 7.25" radius for a true vintage feel. The original black bottom pickups give all the clarity and chime of a vintage Mustang single coil, with the phase switching pickup selectors offering the kind of tonal versatility that only a Mustang can. Other features include a vintage style pearloid pick guard, upgraded white button locking Kluson style tuners instead of their vintage spec originals, and a traditional and distinctive sounding Mustang vibrato unit.
Condition / Originality:
This guitar is in excellent condition, with only some very light signs of use cosmetically. The black bottom pickups and CTS pots appear original, and it has been upgraded with a set of Kluson style white button locking tuners. Its 'Crafted In Japan' T serial number dates it to 2007-08.
