The new American Original series from Fender builds on every aspect of the companies illustrious past, encompassing the same passion for design, tone and innovation as they always have. Initially introduced as Fenders feature heavy top of the range instrument in 1962, the Fender Jaguar was quickly adopted by the Surf musicians of the time due to it's unique single coil pickup sound and floating vibrato, and has gone on to become synonymous with underground and alternative musical styles ever since. The Fender American Original series maintains the styling and tone of the original Fender guitars that revolutionized popular music, with a more modern feel and playability.
Designed to be as period correct as possible, the American Original 60’s Jaguar in Surf Green is based on the bound Rosewood necked Jaguars that Fender was producing in the mid 1960's. Comprised of an Alder and Maple neck with Rosewood fingerboard, pearloid dot inlays and white binding, the American Original 60’s Jaguar also features uniquely 60’s custom colour finishes in nitrocellulose lacquer, allowing the wood to breathe and the finish to age naturally.
The American Original 60’s Jaguar also features authentic wax potted Pure Vintage ’62 single coil Jazzmaster pickups, with cloth covered output wire, fiber bobbins and alnico V magnets, just as they would have had in ‘62. Utilising the original Rhythm and Lead circuit switching in combination with the unique bass cut 'Strangle' switch, the tone of Jaguars has remained one of the most unique and distinctive sounds of any electric guitar.
The Mid 60's ‘C’ shaped neck profile is comfortable and easy to play, especially combined with the shorter 24" scale length of Jaguar guitars, and will feel familiar to those players used to a more modern 'C' shape profile of other Fender models. The American Original 60’s Jaguar in Surf Green also benefits from a 9.5” fingerboard radius giving the player a more modern feel and playability across the neck. Additional vintage spec features include vintage tall profile frets, a three ply tortoise shell pickguard, vintage style hardware and the vintage style floating tremolo unit with tremolo lock. All Fender American Original series guitars also include a period correct hard shell case.
The Fender American Original 60’s Jaguar in Surf Green is the perfect homage to a truly classic Fender design, one that has inspired countless musicians across the decades to push the boundaries of what is possible with the electric guitar.
