When initially released in 1954, few could have predicted the impact that the Fender Stratocaster would go on to have on popular music and culture over the next 60 years. The new American Original series from Fender builds on every aspect of that 60 year history, encompassing the same passion for design, tone and innovation as those first Stratocasters did, continuing the legacy of the instrument that redefined the electric guitar. The Fender American Original series maintains the styling and tone of Fenders ‘Golden Era,’ with a more modern feel and contemporary pickup switching.
Designed to be as period correct as possible, the American Original 50’s Stratocaster in White Blonde is based on the original run of Maple necked 50’s Strats. Comprised of a traditional Ash body and Maple neck, the American Original 50’s Stratocaster also features uniquely 50’s finishes in nitrocellulose lacquer, allowing the wood to breathe and the finish to age naturally. The American Original 50’s Stratocaster also features wax potted Pure Vintage ’59 single coil Stratocaster pickups, with cloth covered output wire, fiber bobbins and alnico V magnets, just as they would have had in the 50’s. These provide one of the most authentic vintage Strat tones available, with unmatched clarity and versatility.
The slightly thicker yet playable soft ‘V’ neck profile also lends itself to the feel of an authentic vintage Fender guitar, however the American Original 50’s Stratocaster in White Blonde also benefits from a 9.5” fingerboard radius giving the player a more modern feel across the neck, meaning the soft ‘V’ profile is much more playable than many would assume a 50’s neck profile to be. Additional vintage spec features include vintage tall profile frets, a single ply pickguard, vintage style hardware and a six point synchronized tremolo system, one of Fenders earliest and most important innovations. All Fender American Original series guitars also include a period correct hard shell case.
The Fender American Original 50’s Stratocaster in White Blonde continues to see Fender celebrating and reinvigorating classic guitars from its past, ensuring that they will continue to be the guitar of choice for musicians in search of the performance, style and tone that has made Fender instruments the go-to guitars of choice for so many years.
