Earthquaker Devices are arguably the most well known boutique effects pedal maker in the world, with a selection of pedals that is hugely diverse and encompasses both functionality and insanity in equal measure. All of their pedals are lovingly handmade in Akron, Ohio.
The Colby Fuzz sound is the result of a collaboration between Earthquaker Devices and the recently resurrected Park Amplification, and is designed to be a faithful recreation of the mythical Park Fuzz Sound pedal originally manufactured by Jim Marshall. While the original used some now unobtainable TO-1 transistors, the Colby Fuzz Sound utilises NOS germanium transistors for a fuzz tone almost indistinguishable from the original but with a wider range of gain.
The Colby Fuzz Sound also solves the nagging issue of positive ground power requirements that come with many old fuzz pedals, meaning they can't be daisy chained with other pedals and are therefore almost impossible to use in a pedalboard set up. This has been cleverly worked around with an internal voltage conversion chip that will ensure the Colby Fuzz Sound can sit right along side the rest of the pedals on your board.
The Earthquaker Devices Colby Fuzz sound is a wonderfully accurate recreation of a classic fuzz pedal that is the perfect choice for anyone looking for a truly vintage sounding 60's or 70's fuzz.
