On a never ending journey to create the finest fuzz boxes around, Earthquaker Devices have touched on countless historic pedal designs, tweaking them and making them crazier and more versatile than guitar players ever thought possible. Limited to 1,500 units worldwide, the Earthquaker Devices Black Ash is the companies homage to one of the most revered fuzz pedals of all time - the infamous three knob Tonebender. Featuring a selection of curated premium components including paper-in-oil capacitors and half-watt carbon composition resistors straight out of EQD president Jamie Stillman's personal collection.
The Earthquaker Devices Black Ash features a simple and traditional control layout, with Volume, Fuzz and Top settings allowing you plenty of tonal flexibility. The Fuzz ranges from lower gain cranked amp style tones all the way through to scorching high gain Fuzz. The Top control is where the flexibility of the Black Ash really becomes apparent. The Top control acts as a tone frequency sweep between 2kHz and 10kHZ, allowing your guitar tone to sit more 'forward' in the mix and allowing the Black Ash to pair with a range of different pickup outputs. With the Top control set lower, the Black Ash has a richer and warmer tone, while set further right the Top control will offer greater mid range and treble response and add new harmonics.
Earthquaker Devices are arguably the most well known boutique effects pedal maker in the world, with a selection of pedals that is hugely diverse and encompasses both functionality and insanity in equal measure. All of their pedals are lovingly handmade in Akron, Ohio.
