Released in 1968 the Thinline Telecaster is a firm favourite of those who have one in their arsenal, with this 'Type 1' variation relatively short lived before moving over to a wide range humbucker orientation. As such, these Type 1 models have long been sought after by players looking for that magical combination of traditional Telecaster pickups in a semi hollow body. As with many rarer vintage Fender guitars, players have turned to Japanese made Fender guitars to get period correct vintage spec instruments at a fraction of the price, all the while embodying the kind of craftsmanship and attention to detail that Japanese instruments have become so renowned for.
This Fender Japan Telecaster Type 1 Thinline features a Mahogany body with a Maple neck that sports a comfortable 60's 'C' neck profile that players of all styles will find comfortable. The neck heel contains the code TN-70EX, indicating that this model was most likely original an export for the US market. Featuring a traditional single coil pickup orientation, this guitar features its original neck pickup while the bridge pickup has been upgraded with a TV Jones Starwood Tele single coil, for a fuller, rounder sound. The combination of this with the Thinlines semi hollow design give an altogther woodier sound than a standard Tele. This Fender Japan Type 1 Telecaster Thinline is finished off with a period correct pearloid pick guard and late 60's style headstock decal.
