Throughout the 1950's and 60's, the Hofner Senator was the go to arch top guitar for those who couldn't stretch to a Gibson. Manufactured in Germany and distributed throughout Europe, Hofner guitars gained massive popularity due to their connection to the Beatles in the early 60's. The Senator comprises of a Maple top with Flame Maple veneer back and sides, triple dot fretboard inlays and a traditional Hofner Compensator tailpiece. This Senator sounds very full with great bass response, especially when strung with flatwounds, and sounds perfect for Jazz or Swing playing with great projection and resonance. All in all they are wonderful guitars for the money and perfect for a classic vintage arch top sound.
